Alternative Digital software exploration Sketchup

Good evening... I hope everyone has a nice day today. In this post I will explain the reason why I did not choose to do my major project by using Sketchup. As mentioned in the previous post, I have used solely Photoshop and illustrator for this major project- eco-friendly foodware design.

In my opinion, Sketchup is more suitable for Architecture but not product design.I would say that I am very new to this software and hence, I am not so familiar with the programme. Sketchup is a good software for architecture as it has many useful tools such as adding 3d texts , colour drop tool and free hand drawing shape and geometry shapes
This is the initial screen for the programme which is started with the land and I have use eraser tool to delete the human who are standing in the middle.

I clicked the polygon tool to create the base and clicked push/pull tool to  make the shape 3D. I further explore the shape by construct another polygon on the big polygon. As you can see from the screenshot on the right, I can add colour as Sketchup offers free wide range of colour and textures including metal fabric and stone textures. Hence, designers are able to create realistic objects or buildings.

I have zoomed into the shape and I am unable to zoom out again. I was lost during exploration of the programme.
This is the problem during the use of the programme.

I tried to add 3d text by adding my name and then click OK
This is the outline of adding the text and I use the colour drop to extract the colour which I want on my text.I personally like this tool as I am able to create interesting logo and I can further edited on photoshop.

REFLECTION
I think that Sketchup may not be the ideal choice for my major project. Although there are many useful tools to construct the objects but still it is more suitable for the architecture. there are also another specific programme for product design sketches but it is not for free. Furthermore, I would say that the programme has various textures provided but some specific texture which I need such as bamboo and sugarcane paper are not available. I also have difficulties in zooming in and out the screen.I would highly recommend this programme for architect but not product designers.
